ABOUT US
Out of respect for the wood.
Atelier Encaixe was founded in 2015, born from the passion and dedication that Gonçalo and Inês have for wood as a raw material and a source of inspiration. The desire to do things well and to truly master the craft is present throughout the atelier and in all its projects — even those that do not fit within conventional boundaries.
The more unconventional the project, the greater the challenge, and beyond wood… we love challenges.
This is not just another “place where things are made out of wood.” Here, we know wood like the back of our hand, and we have even received an entrepreneurship award. We always give our best in everything we do: restoration, fine cabinetmaking, and products.
RESTORATION
Before wood, there are memories to preserve.
That is why, at the atelier, we care for memories with mastery and respect for traditional techniques and materials.
With us, your oldest and most cherished furniture pieces are in good hands.
FINE CABINETMAKING
After caring for the memories of others for so long, we decided to build our own.
We design and craft unique, concept-driven pieces that are appreciated worldwide. What we do, we do well, and we do it with time — because that is the only way to truly make a difference.
And because we want to create the best with our own hands, we use only the finest woods and ancestral Portuguese craft techniques.
We never make two identical pieces of furniture — and that is exactly what makes them special.
PRODUCTS
Because well-cared-for memories are preserved memories, we have developed our own line of natural products that nourish and protect wood.
These products are made here in our atelier with great care and are used to protect memories as important as those found in the Museum of the Portuguese Parliament (Assembleia da República) and the National Library of Portugal, both of which are among our clients.
Last, but certainly not least: respect.
Out of respect for what we do, environmental and social responsibility are always present at the atelier. We use recycled materials, environmentally friendly products, and we work at a thoughtful pace.
We believe that rushing does not take us further. We do a lot, but we do it well.
We also carry out renovations, scenography, and collaborate in fields as diverse as television, the pharmaceutical sector,
and advertising — because here diversity is key.
Just like authenticity.
That is what makes us unique.

GONÇALO
This is the story of a passionate craftsman.
Gonçalo has been working in this field for many years. He has done many things and has many stories to tell. He has restored antique furniture, created unique pieces, worked in scenography, and collaborated on unconventional projects. He has achieved a great deal with his exceptional skills, yet he has never lost the passion for what he does — and that makes all the difference.
That passion, together with a career as unique as the pieces he creates, defines his path.
He studied at the Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation – Institute of Arts and Crafts (IAO), where he learned the art of working wood (carving) in a place that values traditional techniques that should never be lost. Later, he obtained a Technological Specialization in Conservation and Restoration from ESAD. In 2018, he pursued another dream — completing an MBA, which he achieved at Universidade Autónoma.
If dreams guide life, Gonçalo leads the Atelier like no one else.
His experience, creativity, and motivation are the three ingredients that make Atelier Encaixe a true recipe for success. He oversees the different areas of the atelier, inspiring the team to grow and to fall in love with what they do — every single day.

INÊS
This is the story of a dreamer.
A dreamer, but with her feet firmly on the ground of our Atelier, where she works with heart and soul. Inês masters arts and crafts like few others. She also studied at the Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation – Institute of Arts and Crafts (IAO), where she learned the art of working with wood (marquetry).
Later, she moved to Barcelona, carrying with her the knowledge of a craft that is uniquely ours, while preparing to learn another discipline: Graphic Design. In 2007, she completed a Master’s degree in Communication Strategies and
Art Direction at ELISAVA.
Designer, communication strategist, and craftswoman — among many other things — Inês is responsible for the image, communication, and management of Atelier Encaixe.
One day, Inês challenged Gonçalo with a simple but decisive idea:
"It’s time for us to create an atelier."
A challenge that Gonçalo gladly accepted.
If ideas only make sense when they are brought into the world, then Atelier Encaixe would not exist without Inês.
